AUTOHAUS RECREATIONS OF THE ICONIC 1973 PORSCHE 2.7 CARRERA RS

Achieving The Impossible Dream

One of the most highly sought after Porsche 911's has always been the 1973 2.7 Carrera RS. Its mix of classic pre impact bumper styling and the raw driving experience make it a car most Porsche connoisseurs lust after. However for most of us, ownership will never be a reality unless we have in the region of $400,000 - $500,000 to spend on a classic car.

A More Achievable – and Maybe Even Better – Option

Ownership of the original RS isn't just expensive. It comes with the added worries of the car being damaged, affecting your peace of mind every time you drive it. What's more, extra miles travelled by cars in this price range have a huge impact on their value. The cost of replacement parts for these early cars is also beyond most people's budgets, making simple maintenance a strain.

At Autohaus we have the modern alternative: an Autohaus recreation. We use the very last of the original Porsche 911's being the 3.2 Carrera from 84 to 89.

This model has several advantages as a donor car.

  • They have a fully galvanized body and far more modern mechanicals including the engine management system.
  • They boast interior luxuries such as power windows and climate control.
  • Most 3.2 Carreras, whilst sound in the body, are now due for a cosmetic and mechanical overhaul making them perfect for a replica car.
  • All parts are freely available and do not command the exorbitant prices of the pre-73 cars. This makes running costs extremely affordable.

Your car can be built completely to your specification and budget. The interior, paint and mechanical specification are up to you. We can offer the standard 3.2L engine or upgrades up to 3.8L using the Porsche 3.6L engine as a base.

But the best thing about an Autohaus recreation is that the driving sensation is very similar to the original, largely due to the amount of weight we remove from the donor car. And you won't be afraid to drive it and clock up a few kilometers for fear of damage or depreciation, as the base price of the car is nowhere near the original. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
